Tablet factory
The kitchen's been turned into a Fablet factory as we get ready for the BBC Good Food Show Scotland, taking place next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 2, 3 and 4. I've been trying to make batch after batch of scrummy butter tablet to keep up with what I hope will be a busy day at Glasgow's SECC. I started out with several batches of White Chocolate & Macadamia, then moved on to Irish Cream. Today's been a Vanilla day, and tomorrow I'll turn my hand to Amaretto. With a good supply of the key flavours in stock, I can then turn my hand to a few new things, some old favourites and maybe even some extra batches - just in case things turn out to be busier than I expect. Be prepared, as I'm sure I'd've been taught if I'd ever been a Boy Scout. Meanwhile, the kitchen's pretty much occupied by me, many pots, many trays and lots of ingredients. With several pots on the go at the same time, and various trays of tablet cooling on the table, it's all become a bit of a juggling act - stirring one batch, pouring another, packing yet another, then back to preparing another for the stove. At some point, I'm going to have to stop so people can use the kitchen for other things - like making food. But not yet - there's another batch to be done...
